Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi’s Medical Expenses: Hospital Extends Deadline

Despite every effort by Bro. Zakayo and Saved by Grace Ministries to raise the $4,900 USD demanded for Bro. Zakayo’s treatment, to-date, no donations have been received. After much pleading on Bro. Zakayo’s behalf, the doctors and hospital have agreed to extend the deadline to Thursday, September 22… ten days from now; however, an additional $700 USD has been added to Bro. Zakayo’s bill to cover the cost of the room and meals for the additional ten days. Even so, other than meals, the doctors and hospital are refusing any additional treatment until they receive their money, which means Bro. Zakayo must continue to suffer without pain medication or other treatment until payment is made.

Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi
Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi

Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi, Pastor of Olorei Independent Fellowships and Caretaker of Nyarenda Children’s Home Centre, recently had emergency surgery to remove a failed kidney (please see “Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi Has Emergency Surgery To Remove Failed Kidney” for details). After much pleading, the doctors and hospital agreed to perform the emergency surgery to save Bro. Zakayo’s life, despite the fact he did not have the money for the $4,900 USD in medical expenses that the operation and related treatment were going to cost. A deadline of Monday, September 12, was given for Bro Zakayo to raise the funds and pay the bill. Bro. Zakayo was warned that failure to meet the deadline would incur consequences.

Despite the deadline still being a few days away, the doctors and hospital began refusing further treatment a couple days ago when Bro. Zakayo failed to make any progress in raising the funds. While he is still in the hospital and receiving meals, Bro. Zakayo has been denied any further medication to relieve the pain he is currently suffering.

Today is Monday, September 12… the deadline.

Please prayerfully consider making a tax deductible donation, of any amount, to help Bro. Zakayo pay the $5,600 USD now being demanded by the doctors and hospital for his medical expenses, so they will resume treatment and give Bro. Zakayo relief from the agonizing pain he is being forced to endure. Your donation will help persuade the doctors and hospital to show Bro. Zakayo mercy and resume his treatment. Bro. Zakayo is in desperate need of your compassion and generosity.

Please click the Donate button below to show your support. May God richly bless you as you bless Bro. Zakayo. Thank you.

Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi Has Emergency Surgery To Remove Failed Kidney

Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi, Pastor of Olorei Independent Fellowships in Kenya, was rushed to the hospital by his close friend Rev. Alfred Matoke the evening of Friday, September 2, 2016, when he suffered a painful attack due to the failure of one of his kidneys.

Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi

Background

Bro. Zakayo had been ill for many months; but, it was not until the day before this attack that he discovered he had a bad kidney. His suffering had increased to the point where the pain was no longer bearable. His local community and church took up a collection from their sparse resources so he could visit the doctor and get an x-ray to determine the cause of his ailment. It was through the x-ray that the doctor discovered one of Bro. Zakayo’s kidneys was dangerously enlarged and that he was in need of surgery. Bro. Zakayo, Bro. Alfred (Pastor of Itare Christian Church in Kenya), and I were meeting via WhatsApp, discussing how to raise the money the doctor said would be necessary in order to perform the needed operation when the attack occurred that caused Bro. Alfred to rush Bro. Zakayo to the hospital.

The doctors at the hospital confirmed the diagnosis from Bro. Zakayo’s doctor and agreed that surgery was necessary; but, despite the urgency of the situation, the doctors and hospital wanted the calculated medical expenses of $4,900 USD to be paid in advance. As mentioned earlier, Bro. Zakayo’s resources are meager as are the resources of his community and church. It took God’s mercy and grace just to raise the money that resulted in Bro. Zakayo’s initial diagnosis. After pleading from Bro. Zakayo, Bro. Alfred, and Bro. Zakayo’s doctor who made the original diagnosis, the doctors and hospital relented and agreed to operate on Bro. Zakayo to remove his failed kidney. The doctors and hospital made it very clear that payment in full is expected and that it would be due by Monday, September 12. Due to scheduling conflicts, the surgery would not be performed until 8:00am, the next morning: Saturday, September 3.

Surgery

As scheduled, the doctors operated on Bro. Zakayo Saturday morning. Praise God, they successfully removed the failed kidney, which was extremely enlarged, black, and full of fluid. The doctors examined the remaining kidney and found it to be normal and healthy. Bro. Zakayo is in recovery with Bro. Alfred at his bedside making sure he receives continued care from the doctors and hospital.

Request for Help

Bro. Zakayo is recovering from his surgery and is in need of your prayers for his continued healing, for his son Joel who misses his dad, and for his congregation at Olorei Independent Fellowships who is without their pastor until his full recovery.

Prayer is also requested for Bro. Alfred who remains at Bro. Zakayo’s bedside until his full recovery.

Finally, although the deadline may seem extreme, the doctors and hospital deserve to be paid for their services in saving Bro. Zakayo’s life. They are demanding $4,900 USD by Monday, September 12. Neither Bro. Zakayo, his community, nor his church have the financial resources to pay that sum, much less by the deadline given. Bro. Zakayo, Bro Alfred, and their respective families, community, and churches have asked Saved by Grace Ministries to raise the funds necessary to pay Bro. Zakayo’s medical expenses by the given deadline.

Donations Needed

Saved by Grace Ministries also operates under very limited resources. We are only able to support requests like that of Bro. Zakayo’s through the generous and compassionate donations of people like you. Please prayerfully consider how much the Lord is leading you to contribute. Then click the Donate button below to make your tax deductible donation to help Bro. Zakayo in his time of need. May God richly bless you as you seek to be a blessing to Bro. Zakayo.

Church Needs Reconstruction

Olorei Independent Fellowships’ church was an open structure with a makeshift roof. That was sufficient when the weather cooperated; but, as a disaster whenever it rained or was exceedingly windy. Unfortunately, the worst case scenario finally happened. The church was destroyed by the weather. As a result, the congregation is no longer able to gather there to worship the Lord.

Where Is Your Next Meal Coming From?

Orphans 021 - NYARENDA CHILDREN’S HOME CENTREWhere is your next meal coming from? For many of you, the answer may be your kitchen pantry; for others, a brief visit at local grocery store; and yet others, a quick stop at a restaurant or fast food location. The truth is, many of us are truly blessed and have easy access to food and do not have to worry about where our next meal is coming from. Sadly, that is not the case with many, less fortunate, people around the world. Such is the case with the orphans under the care of Rev. Zakayo Mikiburi of Olorei Independent Fellowships at Nyarenda Children’s Home in Kenya. For Bro. Zakayo and the orphans under his care, each day is a constant struggle to find food for that day’s meal. That is right. You are very observant if you noticed I said meal (singular) rather than meals (plural). That is how difficult their struggle is. They are fortunate enough just to come up with one meal much less more. While we sit comfortably in air conditioned rooms eating three or more meals a day and snacking when we are the least bit hungry, children like the ones under Bro. Zakayo’s care do not know if they are going to get even a single meal that day.

Please help. Your tax deductible donation, of any amount, can help buy bags of rice and other food for these orphans and other less fortunate individuals so they can have a meal and stave off the pangs of hunger they battle with each and every day. Simply click the Donate button below. Please help feed the orphans of Nyarenda Children’s Home. May God richly bless you for your generosity and compassion. Thank you.

God Saves Kenya Orphanage Through Your Generous Donations!

Praise be to God and to all of you who so generously donated. The orphanage has been saved!!! Because of your compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity, the money needed to save the orphanage was raised in time to pay off the debts owed before the deadline. Praise the Lord and thank you so much! You will never know this side of Heaven how much it means to me that you selflessly and sacrificially gave to save the orphans from a terrible fate. May God reward each of you and richly bless you exceedingly beyond your ability to measure! Thank you.

Urgent: Olorei Independent Fellowships in Danger of Losing Orphanage

Olorei Independent Fellowships is in danger of losing its orphanage, Nyarenda Chirldren’s Home Centre, on Monday, February 9, 2015, if it cannot raise $810 to pay off expenses incurred by the recent injury and death of one of its orphans, Bivon Nyamwamu Makori.

Orphans 021 - NYARENDA CHILDREN’S HOME CENTREOlorei Independent Fellowships is in danger of losing its orphanage, Nyarenda Chirldren’s Home Centre, on Monday, February 9, 2015, if it cannot raise $810 to pay off expenses incurred by the recent injury and death of one of its orphans, Bivon Nyamwamu Makori (see “Update (01-28-2015): Bivon Nyamwamu Makori” and “Follow Up: Bivon Nyamwamu Makori” for details).

Because they did not have the money for Bivon’s medical and funeral expenses ($260 and $550 respectively – the county clerk took care of the $150 needed for Bivon’s coffin), Olorei Independent Fellowships was forced to use the title deed of the land of the orphanage as a guarantee to pay these expenses. While allowing Bivon’s funeral to proceed yesterday, this only bought Olorei Independent Fellowships an extra week to raise the money. If they fail to pay the $810 by Monday, February 9, 2015, the land of the orphanage will be confiscated. The orphanage will be lost. The remaining 18 orphans will be homeless.

Your help is urgently needed to prevent the loss of the orphanage. Please consider making a tax deductible donation, of any amount, by clicking the button below. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and quick attention to this matter. May God bless you abundantly.

The grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you always,
Bro. Chris

PS) Any amount raised in excess of the $810 will first be applied towards the $350 still due to the county clerk for orphan Thomas Onsakia Robert’s funeral (see “Memorial Service: Thomas Onsakia Robert” for details) and then to supplying food for the remaining orphans.

UPDATE (February 9, 2015): PRAISE THE LORD! GOD SAVES ORPHANAGE! Please see “God Saves Kenya Orphanage Through Your Generous Donations!” for details.
