501c3 Status Update (2013-09-11)

It has been a while (7 months) since I last wrote you concerning Saved by Grace’s 501c3 status. As mentioned in that update, we raised enough funds to incorporate and file for 501c3 status. Since that time, we have incorporated as a non-profit organization, have filed for and been recognized as a charitable organization in Mississippi state, and filed for 501c3 status with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States government.

We are still awaiting approval from the IRS. The process, which, in the past, typically took 3-4 months, has now been going on 6 months without response. Supposedly, this is due to a backlog of requests. So, until we receive approval from the IRS, we cannot promise that donations to Saved by Grace, Inc. will be tax deductible. However, if we understand the regulations correctly, when we do receive approval (and we have no reason to believe we will not), we will be able to request that it be retroactive to the date of incorporation (meaning that all donations received since incorporation will be tax deductible). We are not tax attorneys so please consult your own tax advisor for details. We at Saved by Grace Ministries thank you for your patience and understanding as we wait to hear from the IRS.

Having discussed all that, Saved by Grace Ministries is still in desperate need of financial support in order to carry out its ministries. We are still trying to raise needed funds for a group of orphans in Liberia. Additionally, we have been asked to assist groups of orphans and widows in India, Kenya, and Pakistan. We also are trying to raise funds to purchase Bibles and other biblical teaching/training material for distribution in India, Liberia, Kenya, and Pakistan as well as funds to translate and distribute material from this website into the native languages of the regions mentioned.

These ministries cannot happen without your generous support. We encourage you to take a moment and pray about what the Lord would have you do regarding our humble request. If you feel led to make a donation of any amount, you may do so by clicking the Donate button below or by visiting our website and clicking one of the Donate buttons located in the upper right portion of the page. May God bless you for your generosity.

In Christ’s service and yours,
Bro. Chris

501c3 Status Update

Thank you all for your generosity and support. Saved by Grace has now attained enough donations to incorporate as a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Well Done

Thank you all for your generosity and support. Saved by Grace has now attained enough donations to incorporate as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Incorporation proceedings will begin next week. This milestone will make us eligible for international, federal, state, local, and private grants. It also will make any future donations to this ministry, tax deductible. It is your generous gifts, which allow Saved by Grace to be obedient to God’s Kingdom Work, for which we have been called to perform.

Our work is only just beginning though. Incorporating as a non-profit organization is just the first step. Donations are still needed to cover various start-up costs.

Additionally, Saved by Grace is contacted daily by ministries throughout Africa, as well as, India, Pakistan, etc. to acquire Bibles, care for orphans, improve living conditions, attain clean water and food, etc. Their situations are dire and their needs are great. Please help us to help them by donating to our ministry today.

May God bless you as you prayerfully consider donating to Saved by Grace.

In Christ’s service and yours,
Bro. Chris

Incorporating as a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization

I have decided to incorporate Saved by Grace as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Doing so will allow me to more efficiently raise money to fund Saved by Grace and its Kingdom work. I estimate the cost of this endeavor, including miscellaneous service fees, to be in the $2,500-$3,000 (USD) range.

To raise the funds necessary for this project, as well as funds for other projects/missions, I have opened an account with GoFundMe.com, a do-it-yourself online fundraising service. A donation button has been added to the right column below the member login fields. Simply click it and follow the directions. Your donation is greatly appreciated. Please note that since the incorporation will not be completed until after the necessary funds have been received, I do not know at this time whether or not the donations would be tax deductible. As soon as I find out, I will write another post.

Thank you for considering donating to this project of Saved by Grace. May God richly bless you exceedingly beyond your ability to measure in all that you do in faithful obedience to Him.

Taking Saved by Grace to the Next Level

I am frequently contacted by other ministries around the world, which wish to “partner” with Saved by Grace in order to pool resources to accomplish various tasks for God’s Kingdom. I have had to continually disappoint those making these requests (and myself) by confessing that Saved by Grace does not have the resources to assist them in achieving their goals.

I am considering registering Saved by Grace as a 501c3 non-profit organization.

The unfortunate truth is that Saved by Grace is a “one-man” ministry, operated by me, to share the truth of God’s Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people groups, around the world, via the Internet. Presently, the most I am capable of doing is sharing that information and offering prayer support to those in need. Although I recently received encouragement from one of my readers that my ministry is important and should not be undervalued, I still wish I could do more.

After prayerful contemplation, I am convinced that the only way to expand Saved by Grace is to incorporate and register as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Doing so would allow me to solicit funding for the ministry, which would be tax deductable to contributing donors. The acquired resources could then be used to fund the ministry and the various project opportunities, which continually present themselves.

The first step in making this a reality is incorporating and filing for 501c3 status. My questions are:

  1. Do any of you (my members or guests) have (or know of) legal resources which would perform this work for a reasonable fee?
  2. Would you be interested in donating all (or part) of the funds necessary to cover the legal work and fees? (Note: I do not know if this donation would be tax deductable since it occurs prior to the 501c3 status being granted.)
  3. Once 501c3 status has been attained, is Saved by Grace a ministry to which you would feel comfortable making donations to support its Kingdom work?

Please let me know what you think by either leaving a comment or sending me a private email. Thanks in advance for your valued input.

In Christ’s service and yours,

Bro. Chris
